This is a four-man team game. To start, each player tees off and plays his own ball through the first hole. The best gross score is used on that hole, and the player whose score was used does not play in the next hole.
Move to the next hole and the player (of the three remaining playing) with the lowest gross score on that hole has his score recorded, then sits out the next hole; and so on through the 18 holes. So on the 1st hole there are four players in the game, on the 2nd hole there are three players in the game, 3rd hole there are 2 players in the game, and on the 4th hole the team is down to one player (the “Choker”). This process then repeats through the 18 holes.
As for strategy, if there are two scores the same on any hole, the team would normally use the score of the player with the highest handicap first, to leave the lowest handicapper to be the Choker where possible.
For net score, a team handicap is established and taken off the end. To eliminate ties we use indexes to establish the team score.
